Avkos is a rather wide-spread world, with nothing but sea as far as the eye can see. But it has its depths- trenches delving deep into the world´s core, just like it sometimes has its heights, its great, majestic mountains with the only true flaw being hand-thick, murky sea fog the closer to the surface you get, lights glitter in the distance- either a horrible fate at the hands of some great sea creature, or true beauty in the form of bioluminescent coral.
Among these lights are those of the Draug´s cities, yes, the Draug- the calm, human-like peoples of this realm, whom only seem to have the difference of green, blue, or other coral cornucopias of skin color, have made this realm their home. They may be tall, but that does not mean aggression- in fact, they have been able to maintain peace with their cousins, the Undines, for some time now, through sea-shell trading and general camraderie, the only reason the Draug would ever need the heating magic they use to protect their cities are, say, the great diretides.
They do indeed have friendship in the much prouder, more traditional undines, more resembling people of a distant land with tannish-pink skin and fins and gills.
And at the center of all this, these bustling bubble-cities and their expansive trade routes, their elaborate architecture, even the great sea-beast hunts the Undine heirs have to go on to prove their worth, with armies of 300 at their kicking heels, is the water paradigm: A glittering seafoam-blue crystal hidden in the great temple-city of Moreigh. Memory has long past on just why the pardigm is valued, but there is one thing the people of Avkos have not forgotten: There will be one day the paradigm must be kept from falling into the wrong hands.
(Gosh it feels good to be back folks, at least those who are seeing this, with my own RP again.
This will be part of a longer series as well, just a warning.)
Species: (Draug, Undine, if you want you can be some form of intelligent ¨sea beast¨, as well. but they are largely untrusted,)
Appearance: A lithe male Undine, with mossy blue, green-splotched skin and short-cut hair that only barely dances about the water as he moves about. His bright eyes allow him decent vision underwater, like most of his clan. Both outside and during sea creature hunting he wears a tightly woven seaweed kilt with silver dye, with similar sandals and a breastplate with equally strong netting keeping it together. He has a constant look of worry on his face at the moment, along with wide and tall fins.
Background: A young huntsman of one of the central cities in the Undine kingdom, he has been proudly chosen to obtain the honor of helping his close older brother, Torial, becomes heir to the throne through the Diretide hunt. He comes from a rather large family, however, with ties to royalty through his royal guard parents. While he is willing to take on the throne should his brother fail, he is intimidated by having such leadership to bear...
A stream of bubbles suddenly rises from a nearby coral cluster. A long, sleek creature swims out, bubbles streaming from its mouth and nose. Its grey scales along its spine and legs sparkle in the ocean light, shining alluringy. The strange, soft "scales" covering the rest of its body floating in the water.
The two brothers turned to see this just as Torial was just about to turn the tide, they looked to each other with a " You sure about this" look towards each other, before deciding to take the golden opportunity, they'd swim after the strange, new sea beast.
The beast dances gracefully through the water, using its wide side fins and powerful four kickers to move silently along. Every so often, it releases a stream of bubbles, then immediately sucks them back up. It doesn't have gills or fins on its back or even webbing between its toes.
Strange beast.Cahlein thought to himself, as they started to go into bulls-horn formation on either end... They were fast swimmers, but... This was starting to confuse them- this creature didnt look like it belonged in the water at all! Fur?! What creatures have FUR!? only legendary glacier beasts, and there wasnt a glacier around for at least countless miles!
The beast convulses suddenly and launches itself to the surface by planting its kickers against a bunch of coral and kicking off hard. It rockets to the surface, leaving behind a trail of bubbles and she alluring glimmer of opalescent scales.
The two brothers looked at each other then, now they were more astounded by its majesty, it looked so bizarre... Yet... This had to be some manner of legend, they couldn't let it get away, they'd pick up the pace, hoping they could still keep an eye on its graceful silhouette. Torial would snatch some seaweed from the forest, quickly fastening it into a net...
he'd see the figures coming after them, odds are he saw them on his way up... Some local undines, he'd presume, looks like they arent happy to see him though, he can see a pretty big net one is carrying, its tossed up, through the water and over, going right onto him- a skilled throw!
"Hah, got it! Lets see if we can hold on, little bro, take the other side!" Cahlien seemed to hesitate, but he had to make big brother proud... He'd circle around, trying to hold on and bring the creature into the water... Their tugging wasnt that strong, but it would definitely concern mote... If he could convince them to stop...
The scream scares the two horrifically "Woah, the sea-beast can talk?!" they say to each other, honestly, it wasn't the fact it was talking that surprised them- they've heard of such things... It was how... Wholesome it sounded, it didn't sound like a big intimidating, god-like figure at all, or some kind of monster, it sounded like someone... Normal? They didn't anticipate this... In fact, the two young Undines who just tried assaulting Mote seemed horribly confused.
"uhh, okay..." Cahlien would take out a sort of coral compass, pointing in a non-northward direction... Perhaps to someplace else. "Follow us!" The two boys start to swim off to a large trench that seemed to be glowing in the distance.
it had a long snout, ending in a tapered beak, with a thorned tounge slipping about to cut at the net, its iron hard scales are glistening, and the fin looks like a spiiked mountain range on its back, he'd have a few seconds to try and do something before it was free again.
"A sarndius!" Cahlein pointed his finger upwards like some professor.
"pretty deadly sea monsters, they eat coral and shell, and thus usually make a habit out of eating trading caravans... They've managed to get harder scales over the years... Which really makes one th-"
"Enough that!" Torial would interrupt. "We need to hurry before it comes back!"
They were close enough for him to see the city... And what a sight it was.
Spires, almost resembling tall narwhal horns, dotted the chasm below, going into the chasm walls, there was some kind of bubble surrounding the city and with it was a massive swirling structure at the very center, it seemed to be some kind of platform upon which the market laid... There was already clouds of Draug and Undines noticing the oncoming dragon, unsure whether to be afraid or otherwise...
Mote tries to look as regal and imposing as possible. His scales glitter like opals and pearls in the light, giving him the appearance of being made of precious stone. He uses his wings to keep pace with the small pair of undines leading the way, admiring the city below.
they'd see some well-armored (at least relatively well-armored) draug coming up. "U-Uh, hello.. Is the... Intelligent sea-beast with you?"
Draug "military" wasn't that much since they relied so often on the protection of heat magic and draug/undine conflict was practically nonexistent these days, these guys were clearly timid to actually be in a situation demanding their attention...
it seems almost more like a party than it does a "council", theres just as many people in here as there were at the bazaar, they're all arguing with eachother incoherently abotu the new arrival when he suddenly appears before them, they all stop, one single, meek, old voice coming from a man that was seemingly the head of this council, would say. "We greet you, ally to Tribb, we heard you are seeking out your close friend?"
Its been a surprisingly warm welcome up until now: Where its become a bizzare mix of mistrust and kindness veiled behind fear, proven by a new, equally as old and crumbly looking draug who takes a stand.
"So, do you have a way you can perhaps prove this to us? I heard you resembled a dragon, but there are some doubts being cast, i mean, this creature shows up suddenly, we shouldnt be trusting it this easily, right?"
The ambassador who was speaking before sighed, and attempted to calm what looked to be a sparing qurarell with a compromise: "Agreed, but what if it can put a bit out for us? You agree, dont you, friend of Tribb?"
Mote takes a deep breath, then releases a massive cloud of bubbles. Another burst of bubbles escapes his nose, and as soon as the pair touch, a short explosion happens, rippling the water around it. Mote grabs the ball of newly-formed gas and throws it up higher. With a muffled pop, the ball bursts into the symbol of the Draconic Royal Family.
Mote realizes he has never heard an entire city gasp in disbelief until now- she'd start to hear the muffled sounds of clapping, the doubter looks a bit slackjawed. "Hmm... Well, he was seen a bit to the north, closer to the wurmwastes... He said there was something he needed to do to help protect the paradigm, but he didnt elaborate further..."
"The Jermiea trench, northeast, I can lead the way!" Her parents quit trying to stop her, they just look worryingly at their daughter playing around in front of Mote as she explains the times she's spent with Tribb...
"hmm... Y-Yeah! I can! she goes back to her parents..." Who look knowingly back at Mote. "T-Thank you, dragon!" These people were pretty well pleaseed seeing the exchange... But she does see a couple of familiar faces. "We'll join ya, Mote..." cahlien said.
"My home? Hrm, let's see. My home is far from here, essentially the opposite. There are fluffy clouds you can lay on, floating islands with tasty fruits and fun animals and interesting bugs... lots of birds, rainbows, sunshine..."
"...Huh, I dont think i've ever even heard of half of those things, bugs? I think i've heard of birds around the north, animals, rainbows, and sunshine, of course thats here, but you should bring us some of you fruit if you ever come back, it sounds cool!" poor guys, odds are they arent too familiar with most things, being so dedicated to their obligations and being so waterlocked.
They'd be near this range, overlooking a deep watery trench that they had been following for a while... Even here it sounded like howling wind thanks to the harsh currents around the trio.
